  • Strap and secure materials safely and correctly
  • Ensure safety of other workers
  • Assist around site when required

Responsibilities:

  • Directing site traffic
  • Directing pedestrians and site workers
  • Operating in a safe manner at all times
  • Follow site traffic management plan

  • Good attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret working plans and steel lists for the job
  • Set out the work from these instructions
  • Assemble the reinforcing bars or mesh by welding, wiring or clipping into predetermined locations within the concrete
  • Fabricate steel reinforcement as beams, footing pads or special units

Requirements

  • Blue Skilled CSCS Card

Your key responsibilities and duties will include:

  • General setting out and monitoring of works on site
  • Read and review construction plans and undertake basic take-offs
  • Raise technical queries (RFI’s) with designers and other members of project team
  • Ensuring quality control requirements are met and recorded in accordance to specification
  • Meeting and the delivery of work to deadline
  • Providing detailed technical input and coordination of information
  • Ensure and promote a Safe Working Practice

The successful candidate will also need to have the following requirements:

  • Have previously worked as a Site  or Setting Out Engineer
  • Have previous experience in working on a highways project either on the roads or structures team
  • Hold a valid CSCS card
  • BSc or BEng level qualification in Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC/ HND or the equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word & Excel

As a Section Engineer you will:

  • Allocate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise the task completion.
  • Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed.
  • Oversee engineering requirements demanded in the delivery of a section of work or on larger projects, of a subcontractor, to meet the construction programme.
  • Make effective use of document control to manage distribution of information.
  • Develop and Approve relevant procedures specific to their area of works.
  • In association with the Section Foreman, assess the plant and resource requirements to meet the demands of site and office based works.
  • Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed throughout the works.
  • Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out in accordance with design.
  • Ensure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
  • Liaise with other Section Engineers/Foremen to ensure any clashes on site are managed to ensure a smooth flow of work.
  • Regularly review procedures to ensure they are as efficient as possible.

About You: 

  • Experience within earthworks on a heavy civils project 
  • Confident with paperwork and managing a team
  • Happy to complete some setting out if required

 

  • As a Senior Engineer, you will be a key part of the project delivery team and will be responsible for leading the design, management and delivery of complex civil engineering projects.
  • You will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices, and have the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • You will have excellent communication and problem solving skills, and will be able to demonstrate effective leadership of project teams and the ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • You will also have significant experience in the management of projects from inception to completion, including design, implementation and cost control.
  • The successful candidate will have a degree in civil engineering or equivalent, and will be professionally qualified with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role.
